5 Five Ways Golfers Can Easily Reduce Their Slice
from:The slice occurs when the ball flight veers to the right or left, depending upon the dominant hand of the golfer. Slicing is the one of the most frustrating errors that golfers have.
Fussing and cussing usually go hand-in-hand with the slice. Here are some tips that may help you overcome this common problem and make life for your golf buddies a little more pleasant.
Tip 1: The Grip
Gripping the handle of the club too tightly is common. It can result in an uneven swing and may cause the club face to hit the ball at an open angle. This open angled hit, regardless how small, will radically change the balls curve in flight.
Here's a speedy fix for this open clubface hit. Turn your left hand towards the right. Look to see if you can view the upper portion of your hand from this position. Also make certain that your palms are aligned before you swing.
Tip 2: The Alignment
The alignment of your feet and knees are critical. Make sure they are aligned and square to the ball when you swing. This will feel uncomfortable for a while. Practice this until you feel comfortable swinging from this position
Tip 3: The Stance
A solid stance is key to power hitting. Set your stance wide enough that your shoulders fit between your shoes. You can now produce a powerful swing without losing control, using a full body turn.
Tip 4: The Swing
About 9 out of 10 golfers swing the club in an incorrect path. Swing the club so it comes at the ball from the inside of the target line. A flat swing that approaches the ball from an inside path has a better chance of solid contact with the ball.
Tip 5: An unusual tip
Here's a way to make sure you are swinging the club head from the inside to the outside. Stand a plastic water bottle approximately 18 inches behind the ball. On your backswing take it inside the bottle; on the downswing do the same. If you can't keep from hitting the bottle your club head is coming from the outside.
Almost everyone has to deal with slicing the ball at some time. The slice is one of the most difficult mistakes to overcome, but having the right mindset with the right information, you can make your swing powerful and straight.
